iTunes Specific Error Messages and Resolutions

Many Apple fans meet all sorts of errors during their upgrade, degrade and sync process. Don't worry if you run into these errors, read carefully this article and you will find all the errors available are listed below:

Error 3194 & 1004

This occurs most likely because of the interruption from the firewall software or overdue and incorrectly configured security software, or hosts-file entry redirects gs.apple.com , or your improper network proxy settings.
Launch cmd and input "nslookup gs.apple.com", then you will get the real local ip for visiting gs.apple.com. Mark down your ip and go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers \etc\ and find host file, right click to open in notepad, you will see gs.apple.com in the end, replace with your marked ip, save and exit then restart your PC.
First backup Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts file, then delete hosts file. Open iTunes in administrator mode and restore from dfu recovery mode. Remember to put hosts file back after finish.

Error 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604

These are common errors and they occur because some needed services have not yet been turned on.
Open in notepad and delete gs.apple.com from hosts file in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\. Go to "control panel"-"administrative tools"-"service", turn on Terminal Services,Messenger,Telnet from the serving list.(This resolution applies to the firmware under 5.X version.)

Error 6 & 9

This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes or unusually enters degraded mode.
Enter DFU recovery mode and upgrade iTunes to the latest version and check USB connection.

Error 20 & 21

This normally occurs while degrading. Normally your iPhone screen shows the icon in recovery mode.
Resolution: Enter DFU mode, open iTunes, press Shift and click "restore" in the same time. After you see the pop-up window requires for selecting firmware, release Shift and choose the needed firmware.

Error 23

This error occurs in the restoring and upgrading process, it indicates hardware error in your device or problem in your computer system.
Upgrade iTunes to the latest version, check USB port, restart computer.

Error 35 & 5000

These two errors occur normally because of the wrong folder path or insufficient user permission when downloading music from iTunes Music.
Make sure iTunes Music folder exist or not in C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes.

Error 50

This error occurs when user attempt to purchase apps from iTunes Store but a certain software effects the connection between iTunes and Apple server.
Resolution: Check if you are running web accelerator or if the anti-virus software has intercepted.

Error 1004

This error occurs because the connection to gs.apple.com has been blocked, redirected or suspended.
Resolution: Open host file in notepad in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ and delete gs.apple.com, then save and exit.

Error 9800, 9815, 9814

This error occurs when purchasing apps from iTunes Store.
Resolution: Exit iTunes and set the date in the lower right corner of your computer.
Unknown error containing "0xE"
This occurs most likely because the problem of the computer or the USB port.
To resolve this issue you can restart the computer, update iTunes to the latest version and check data line or USB.

Error 0x666D743F

This happens because of QuickTime.
Resolution: Go to control panel and find QuickTime, click "audio"-"device"- cancel "safe mode(only waveout)"-"yes". Or you can go to "sounds and audio devices" in control panel, choose "volume"-"speaker setup"-"advance"-"stereophone"-"apply".

Error 2009

This error occurs because of conflicts between the softwares or frequent jailbreak leads to operating system error. You can try to jailbreak again to solve this problem.

Error 18 & 8

These errors typically occur when the media database damage and couldn't be restored or updated. To resolve this problem, update iTunes to the newest version.

Error 1415, 1417, 1418, 1428, 1429, 1430, 1436 and 1439

This is because iTunes needs to be upgraded. After updating check USB and restart the computer, then restore your iPhone.

Error 13019

This error normally occurs because there are repeated voice memos in database while syncing music with iTunes.
Update iTunes and click your device in iTunes, click "Music", under Sync Music options, choose selected playlist and cancel "voice memo".
