Is it possible to restore one iPad from another?

My old iPad is scrapping and I have purchased a new iPad mini. Will it be possible to restore the files to the new iPad mini?

Disable the sync function on iTunes in case that iTunes will sync automatically and make a new backup. Run the program and click to choose your device type.
Two recovery modes will be displayed in the interface after you have chosen the device model. Click "Recover from iTunes Backup File".
