Since many iPhones users know little about how to enter dfu mode, here I offer you three methods on how to enter DFU Mode in iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

No 1: Normal Recovery

The recovery method is widely used in the general decoding tutorials to restore firmware on iPhones.
1. Connect your iPhone to PC and shutdown iPhone.
2. Press "Power" button and "Home" button at the same time.
3. Not until you see the white icon of "Apple" can you release "Power" button. Continue to press "Home" button.
4. Open iTunes. When a massage box pops up saying that your iPhone is in the mode of recovery, press "Shift" in the keyboard and click "Recover". You can choose certain firmware to recover.

No 2: Black screen recovery

1. Connect your iPhone to PC via USB transfer cable and you'll hear the voice prompt for successful connection.
2. Shutdown iPhone and you'll hear the indicator sound for non-connection.
3. Keep pressing "Power" and "Home" button at the same time for exactly 10 seconds and release "Power" bottom immediately. Continue to "Home" button.

4. At that moment, iTunes will boot automatically and a message appears telling you that your iPhone is in the recovery mode (iPhone remains black screen). Now you can press "Shift" in the keyboard and select any firmware and recover them as well.

The iPhone screen will remain black like this:

No 3: Enter DFU mode without pressing any button. (Only operating on Windows system)

1. Download zip file
Download dfu.zip from Click Here To Download DFU Tools
2. Unzip the download file
Find the file you downloaded just now on your PC and extract it into C: /dfu/
3. Connect your iPhone
Connect your iPhone to your PC and if iTunes pops up, turn it off.
4. Run the program
To launch the file, go to "Start" > "Run" and input "C: /dfu/dfu iBSS.m68ap.RELEASE.dfu" (Exclude double quotation marks!)
5. Enter the dfu mode
Wait patiently until iPhone become a blank screen. Now you can start to degrade.

Apart from the well-known recovery mode, iOS-based Devices also has another mode called Device Firmware Update (DFU) which is used as a way to install or restore firmware and functionality on your device. The main difference between the recovery mode and DFU mode is in that DFU stands for device firmware update. That means the phone is ready to receive any OS you want to install, whereas in recovery mode you can only reinstall the iOS that's already on it.
